My first day assisting Emily will definitely be remembered! Waking up to no power and possibly no water for a shower on my first day of work was not the way I pictured it...
Apparently a major storm had passed through Lynchburg leaving behind destruction the worst Lynchburg has seen in a while. Tossing my daily routine aside I managed to take a quick shower and get ready as best I could considering the circumstances. While driving over to Body Works Day Spa and Salon I was able to see some of the damage from the storm; trees down, no working traffic lights, and not to mention the temperature was already in the the 90s and getting hotter... I wondered if or how Emily would be able to do her clients will all these hang-ups... especially no power!
Well, I quickly found out! Emily did the brides makeup outside... (in the shade), but yes, outside! Before the bride came we set up her makeup station in front of the salon. When the bride arrived, Emily worked her makeup magic just using the sun as her light and the bride couldn't have looked more beautiful.
While cleaning up, we were talking about all the craziness that had ensued earlier that morning with the derecho storm that ripped through Lynchburg and I told her about my previous doubts... her response: "We're like the mailmen... we deliver, no matter what."
