Due to recent tv-shows such as The View and Dr. Oz, there seems to be this idea that UV lights used for gel polishes can cause skin cancer.
After hearing about this supposedly newfound evidence I asked our nail tech Robin what she thought. She told me how a lot of her clients had been coming into the salon nervous to continue getting their usual gel polish so she decided to do research and came across an article in Nails Magazine. The damage clients are seeing on their fingernails is not due to the light, but instead improper filing by nail techs and improper care by clients after getting the gel polish.
Our nail techs at Body Works Day Spa and Salon inform clients of the proper care to take and would like to tell you that you can not get cancer from gel polish.
